Welcome to the home page for Jane Southcombe Racing. The yard is based near Chard in Somerset and has facilities for training 20 horses. In addition to the yard and the boxes your horse has superb facilities for a small yard. We are lucky to have some wonderful road riding with a variety of routes to keep the horses fresh and interested and some steep hills to help their stamina and wind.

There is a horse walker which is used to build additional fitness and is very handy for warming horses up before exercise. The gallop is only a short ride away and rises up a gentle hill over about four furlongs (just under half a mile). It is ideal for the flat horses and helps to tick the jumpers over. For getting extra work into the jump horses we travel to nearby gallops - one of which allows work over an unlimited distance and the other where a very steep incline is excellent for making the muscles work very hard.

Jane has had a full licence for nearly 8 years now and over that time has gravitated more towards the flat. Runners have won on both turf and all weather tracks over the south of England. There have also been several successful trips to Jersey - providing a busman's holiday for horses and owners alike!

Fees are extremely completive and provide incredible value for money. The full training fee is only £155 per week with NO VAT! There are rates for road work, box rest and turn out times.

We are now also looking to take on part ownership of some of the horses.  In return for a lower monthly training fee we will take a share of the horse based on prize money and improvement in value.  Worth a look – especially if you would rather have several in training to increase your chances of winning.  Click here for more information.
